Moto G9 Power Launched in India at Rs.11,999: Specs, Features and Our Thoughts

Moto G9 Power officially launched in India today at 12 PM through Flipkart and will be available for sale from 15 December. Motorola Moto G9 Power first debuted in European market last month along with Moto G9, Moto G9 Plus, and Moto G9 Play.

The Moto G9 Power is coming to India as a “Pro” Model to Moto G9 which is available in India for quite some time. Compared to Moto G9, Moto G9 Power offers a larger display, Upgraded rear and front cameras and a much larger battery. Moto G9 initially launched in India at ₹11,499, and now it is available for ₹9,999 for most of the time.

Should the upgraded internal justify the higher price tag? we are trying to answer this here along with Moto G9 Power Specs, Features and our thoughts on the device.

Moto G9 Power Specifications

Moto G9 Power Launched in India at ₹11,999: Specs, Features and Our Thoughts

Moto G9 Power comes with some major upgrades over Moto G9. In terms of design, Moto G9 power comes with Glass front, Plastic frame and Plastic back. The water-drop notch is replaced with punch-hole on the top left corner. The main camera module moved to the top left corner from the centre compared to Moto G9.

The plastic back panel has unique patterns which will improve the grip and the device comes with a rectangular camera module. Moto G9 power comes in two colours, Sophisticated metallic sage and Vivid electric violet. The device is iP52 water repellent certified.

Due to larger display size and upgraded battery, the device becomes heavier, chunkier and larger compared to Moto G9 and the correct dimensions are 172.1mm x 76.8mm x 9.7 mm and weighs at 221g (pretty heavy)

Moto G9 Power comes with 6.8″ HD+ IPS LCD Display, which is .3inches larger than Moto G9. But sadly the resolution remains at HD+(720P). The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 and comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM. For more storage, you can upgrade it by using a microSD card up to 512GB. But it is a Hybrid Slot, so you couldn’t use dual sim if you are opting for more storage.

Moto G9 Power offers a pure stock android experience as like other Moto phones, So it will not have any Ads in the UI and will be bloatware-free. But you will get some Motorola features like popular Moto gestures over stock features.

The main rear camera sensor is upgraded to 64MP from the 48MP scene on the Moto G9. The other two cameras on the rear remain the same, and they are the mighty useless 2MP macro and depth sensors. In comparison, all of its competitors offer Ultra-wide angle cameras in this price segment. On the front Moto G9 power comes with a 16MP sensor instead of 8 MP on the Moto G9.

The Moto G9 Power offers a lot of features in their camera UI like Night Vision Mode, Spot Color Mode, Portrait Mode, Smart Composition, Auto smile capture, shot optimisation using AI, etc.

The battery now upgraded to 6000 mAh from 5000 mAh and will offer excellent battery life. In terms of charging Moto G9 Power comes with the same 20W Turbocharging. The fingerprint scanner is located on the rear and the device supports 5GHz WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0.

Moto G9 Power Pricing and Availability

The new Moto G9 Power starts at ₹11,999 for the 64GB variant and there are no higher storage options. The new device is exclusive to Flipkart as like Moto G9. The Moto G9 Power will be available for sale from 15 December at 12 PM.

Moto G9 Power: Our Thoughts

Even though Moto G9 Power offers a 64MP sensor at ₹12K, we still do not recommend this device to our audience to HD+(720P) screen on a 6.8-inch display. The display will be sharp, and it will ruin the user experience.

Even other specs are not impressive too, and we get better processors like Helio G80, Helio G70 from competitions. The key selling point will be the pure stock android experience. But that is also provided by Micromax in Note 1 with much better Specs. But that device has a slot of quality control issues. So we still think Xiaomi’s offering like Redmi Note 9, Poco M2 and Redmi Note 9 will be the better options to go for.
