Xiaomi recently announced that the Redmi 9 Power India launch event is scheduled for December 17th. Xiaomi also released some key specifications through many teasers, but they haven’t revealed the design. The smartphone is speculated to come as a rebranded version of the recently launched Redmi Note 9 4G in China.
But the folks at 91mobiles can confirm that the Redmi 9 Power will not be the same as per the Redmi 9 Power’s camera setup image shared by popular Indian tipster Ishan Agarwal with them. The Redmi 9 Power will have ‘Super Quad Camera’ setup instead of triple cameras in a rectangular module at the back.
Redmi 9 Power India vs Redmi Note 9 4G China
As per the rumours, the only difference between Redmi Note 9 4G China and Redmi 9 Power will be the additional 2 MP/5 MP(Probably 2 MP) Macro Camera on the Redmi 9 Power.
Redmi 9 Power Specifications
Design and Display
The Redmi 9 Power design will include a textured polycarbonate back with rectangular camera module at top left corner on the back. The camera module will house three vertically aligned cameras plus an additional sensor on the side, just below the LED flash module. The overall weight of the device will be below 200gram(~198g)
On the front, Redmi 9 Power packs a 6.53 inches FHD+ IPS LCD Panel with 400nits brightness and water-drop notch for the selfie camera. Considering the Redmi Note 9 4G china model, Redmi 9 Power likely comes with Gorilla Glass 3 as display protection, 90.34% Screen to body ratio and TUV Rheinland low blue light eye protection.
Redmi 9 Power expected to come in four colours, likely Black, Blue, Green and Red. The phone packs a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for secure biometric authentication and will also support facial recognition.
Storage and Performance
Redmi 9 Power will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC, LPDDR4X Ram and UFS 2.2 storage. It is likely to be the cheapest smartphone with UFS 2.2 storage in India. In terms of storage option, Redmi 9 Power will come with 4GB+64GB and 4GB+128GB option even though the storage option in china is entirely different.
Redmi 9 Power comes with a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 512GB. The Adreno 610 GPU will handle graphical tasks of the mobile, and on the software front, it is likely to boot Android 10 based on MIUI 12 skin.
At the back, the phone packs a quad-camera setup featuring a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, 2MP depth camera and 2 MP macro camera. On the front, the Redmi 9 Power comes with an 8 MP selfie shooter.
Battery and Fast Charging
Redmi 9 Power will feature a massive 6000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. But the company will include a 22.5W charger in the box. The device also supports 2.5W reverse OTG charging. Also, the device is coming with a Type-C port.
Connectivity-wise, the mobile supports 4G VoLTE, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, BLE 4.2 and Infra-Red remote control.
Redmi 9 Power comes with dual stereo speakers with Hi-Res Supports. So it will be the cheapest smartphone with true-stereo speakers.
Redmi 9 Power is likely to come with a TPU case in the box and a pre-applied screen protector.
Redmi 9 Power Expected Price and Launch event
Redmi 9 Power will start at 10,999 for 4GB+64GB variant and 4GB+128GB will be priced at 11,999. Considering the Specifications, the device sits in between Redmi Note 9 and Redmi 9 Prime. So this pricing makes sense. The first sale date for the device will be announced during the launch event. Redmi 9 Power is confirmed to go on sale in India via amazon.in and mi.com. Redmi 9 Power will be unveiled at 12 pm via an online event, which will be live-streamed on the company’s social media and YouTube channels.
